Teaser: Saengfarn was born Princess of Chiangrath, an independent country to the north of Thailand. The story starts when Saengfarn is two years old. Her mother, Queen Athitit, a citizen of Thailand, feels unhappy and unaccepted in Chiangrath and decides to leave her husband, King Saenluang, to return to her home country. Queen Athitit wants to take Saenfarn with her but the King forbids it. After the Queen leaves, the king who loves his daughter deeply and worries about her future, decides to betroth his daughter to his best friend Petcharayoot Rachasena's eldest son. As dictated by Chiangrath's traditions, King Saenluang gives his best friend the Silamanee, a stunning emerald necklace, as proof of his good faith. Silamanee is to be returned to Saengfarn if things do not work out between the princess and her betroth. Saengfarn is raised by her father, her nanny Huamhorn, her aunt Princess Bualavong, her uncle Vongtawan and their son, Prince Saibordee.
When the princess is 8 years old she is sent to Bangkok to study. There she visits her mother for the first time since her parents' divorce. During her visit, the princess discovers that her mother has remarried and has a stepdaughter the same age. Saengfarn is very sadden by her discovery. Ten years later, Saengfarn is about to finish her secondary level studies and goes home during a school break. She finds out her father is ill with heart disease. Saengfarn reluctantly returns to school. A few weeks later she is called back home because her father is dying. Sengfaern informs her mother of the news but her mother does not wish to go. Saengfarn goes home alone, but King Saenluang dies before her arrival. After the funeral, Saengfarn finds out about the Silamanee and her engagement to the eldest son of the Rachasena family through her aunt and uncle. Unfortunately the King's best friend has died and his wife Samerjai now plays ignorant and won't give the Silamanee back. Saengfarn is furious. She decides to return to Bangkok to continue her study and to get the Silamanee back. She returns, not as Princess Saengfarn of Chiangrath but as commoner Ngam Saenluang.
On campus she meets Chalee, an art student, and she soon realizes that he is one of the sons of the Rachasena family. She becomes his friend in order to find the Silamanee...
